ACA Initiative–Expanded Opportunities for Student Members

Hey YPs–Help spread the word:

The ACA is offering expanded benefits for student membership, which still only costs $35 per year. Please encourage all of your staff members to join the ACA, and encourage all of your directors to foot the bill!

Below is a letter from ACA CEO Peg Smith with more information

Here's What's New from the ACA Bookstore

Dear ACA Student Member:

We’re spreading the news — and asking you to pass the word along!

On July 1, ACA is launching a new membership model. All members will receive the same products and services regardless of their member dues rate.

What does this mean for you? The big news: your student membership stays at $35 – and you’ll receive the same products and services as all other members! To be eligible for this special rate, you must be a full-time student. Individual memberships will be $200, so your student discount is more than 80%!

You’ll now receive a full year of Camping Magazine, along with The CampLine, access to all ACA Web resources, discounts on educational events and purchases at the ACA Bookstore, and more!

As a student member, you’re also still eligible for a FREE registration at ACA’s National Conference — that’s worth over $200! The national conference is a great way to network with hundreds of experienced and emerging professionals each year. Next year’s conference will be held in Orlando, Florida, February 17-20, 2009, so be sure to mark your calendar!

Plus, there’s a new way to connect with ACA — it’s the ACA Young Professionals Blog, and you can find it at www.ACAYP.org. Be sure to check it out and see what’s new on the blog!

Today there are over 300 ACA student members around the country. By next September, we can double that number — with your help. If each student recruited just one new member between now and September 1, we’d reach that goal!

Tell your classmates on campus about all that ACA has to offer. Share your ACA experience with professors and academic chairs and ask them to help. This summer, share what you’ve gained from ACA with camp staff and directors, and let them know about this great opportunity for students.

You’ll expand your networking opportunities, and help your fellow students by sharing a great resource. With a little work on everyone’s part, we can double the number of ACA student members in just a few months!

There’s a flyer that can be downloaded (PDF) that you can send with a message of your own to other friends who may be interested. Got questions? Contact ACA at membership@ACAcamps.org, or by phone at 800-428-2267.

Thanks for helping us spread the word — and thanks for being part of ACA!
