ACAYP Mentoring Program

ACA Young Professionals is committed to helping young people jumpstart their careers in camping. To accomplish this, ACA-YPs has begun a mentoring program to connect aspiring camp professionals with established camp directors and executives. The program will benefit both mentors and mentees allowing for the exchange of veteran advice with a fresh perspective.

Benefits To YPs:

• The opportunity to receive career counseling from a seasoned professional

• The chance to network with camp people outside your existing connections.

• The ability to ask questions and seek situational advice from a new source

• The chance to better understand the state of camping and its history

Benefits To Established Professionals:

• The chance to aide a Young Professional’s effort to get their career in camping underway

• The ability to teach and share with a Young Professional the lessons from

camping which you find most valuable

• The chance to get a new, youthful perspective on issues at your own camp

• The opportunity to learn about the technologies and trends affecting our youth

The Program:

• Time Commitment—One hour per month during the off-season to chat by phone

• Agenda—Mentor and mentee will alternate choosing the topics of discussion

• In-person Meetings— ACA-YPs will facilitate gatherings at conferences

• You will be contacted in 6-8 weeks with your mentor/mentee’s information
